Bar graph showing the number
of records in the produced water database for each Phanerozoic period and
the Precambrian. Assignments to geologic ages are approximate because
of production from multiple units and units deposited along time boundaries
between periods.
The periods are arranged from youngest to oldest and represent the following number of records: Quaternary 75; Tertiary 5150; Cretaceous 9913; Jurassic 1977; Triassic 222; Permian 8991; Pennsylvanian 10,100; Mississippian 4441; Devonian 1902; Silurian 837; Ordovician 4664; Cambrian 917; and Precambrian 1. Records for water produced from formations that cross time boundaries were divided equally between adjacent time periods.
